About

Just me behind the bins, out and about looking at birds. I am from the flatland in the middle of the country. I have lived in NJ since 1978, work in NY and travel all over the world. That’s me (although you can hardly tell) at the canopy walk in Monteverde in Costa Rica.

I have been birding since sometime in the late 80s. I take my bins with me everywhere. I have had the good fortune to bird in many states (mostly while on business trips. Sweet.) and some foreign countries. I do not have fancy binoculars, camera or scope but I am out there and I love it. If you see me, stop and say Hey.

My life list in the US is over 600. My abroad list is in disarray. I started to track it more effectively in Clements, but I have to tell you it is complicated and difficult. There are lots of little pieces of paper with lists on them from my travels.

I recently decided to split off the birding stuff from my regular blog murmuring trees. I hope you will visit often, leave a comment, shoot me an email at bearfont@gmail.com or follow me on Twitter.

  • I finished typing up the story… there are still so many I’ve got to find in a word document somewhere, and others hand written. Thanks for asking for the end of the story.

: ) Sure feels great knowing how very many people passionately care for the little wild creatures that try to survive as man takes over more and more places.
