Audubon’s Studio

Watching Hurricane Gustav hurtle toward New Orleans this weekend got me thinking about my trip there in May.  Meandering around the French Quarter, I happened to stop and read that small yellow plaque to the right of the green doors.  See it?  Just below the back of the stop sign.   It says:

Audubon Room

This typical creole cottage probably built before 1813, is considered the traditional site of the studio of famed naturalist painter, John James Audubon, and the place in which he completed his classic “Birds of America” series during his residency in New Orleans in 1821-1822.

Just thought I would share.
